I direct your attention to the MNE workflow described in the MNE-cookbook. The text beneath each block describes the command one must use in mne command line tools, which are not implemented in Python.

While I bumble through these steps in my own dataset, I will start working on a publicly available dataset, the SPM multi-modal faces data.

MNE-python already describes a processing pipeline in one of their examples. Since the data contains viewing of faces vs. scrambled images, it should show amygdala activation similar to the mental imagery dataset I previously described.
